yea, there are a few recalls that they will not do if you have an aftermarket header. however, some people do have nismo catless headers, so it shouldnt be too much of a hassle. the nismo catless headers are similar to most 4-1 catless headers, just the ports bend a little different for more power. also, you obviously have a nismo cai, both nismo cai and nismo header are serviceable and qualified dealerships, not every nissan dealership is qualified/certified to work with nismo parts.

Thanks for the information. I wanted a nismo header but it was just a bit too expensive for me. My car isn't in bad shape but its not in great shape either. I just feel if I put too much money into her it will not be worth it. I just want her to run well for as long as possible.

ouch, that sucks, but their labor price is expensive. i think 2jr was like $2800 for a motor plus intall. im guessing your precat fell apart? did they tell you what was wrong with it? you can order a nissan remanufactured motor, with stamp on it, and have your local mechanic do the install for you. not sure what the problem is, but the motor maybe rebuildable as well, the rebuild kit and misc stuff is <$500, just its labor intensive. most likely the dealer wont rebuild your motor, so they may just want to drop in a new one since its a lot easier, and provides a new warranty.

That sounds about right... I don't trust my mechanic here anymore. So...I think im getting a new car...I will post it for sale i think...not sure who would buy my car though with a blown motor. Its at the dealers right now and I do not know what to do with it. Tow it somewhere I guess?

considering the nature of precat failures, if thats was your problem, there are quite a few people/businesses that will purchase your vehicle. assuming you suffered from precat failure, your motor is rebuildable, and/or replaceable. not to mention, some people want chassis' to do the vq35 swap, so they dont need the motor, just the rest of the car. you can get a lot of modifying information at b15u.com, and you may get more from what you have considering they will pay more since they know what to do with it. as a normal person that unfamiliar with nissan wont want the hassle of a blown motor. essentially, it your car, your money, depends on what you want to do with it. the only downside is your car is yellow and its not a ferrari or a school bus

EDIT: if youre looking for a new mechanic, before you send your car there, go talk to them. get a rough estimate, ballpark figure, and see how knowledgeable they are with sentra, if they know about problems with the precats and crank sensors, etc.
