Installing aftermarket amplifier subwoofer and headunit
Is there a guide for what this guy was trying to do http://www.b15sentra.net/forums/show...ine+converter? If wanted a new headunit would it be possible to use a line out converter still? Also My brother has an old nissan maxima 96 with a Sony cdx gt56ui headunit. Does anyone know if i would just be able to use its wiring harness in my 06 sentra 1.8s with the rockford fosgate package?

well, if you want to install all 3, or change any 1, there are wire harnesses available, except for the subwoofer, which you can custom wire into an aftermarket amp.
once you add an aftermarket head unit, you have control capability for an aftermarket amp. if you want to use the stock amp and sub, you can do that too, just by wiring in your headunit, im not sure but i dont think the wires from an old maxima will be the same. i did add a headunit, with the stock amp and sub, as the headunit failed. then the amp failed a couple years later, so i had an aftermaket radio and aftermarket amp powering the stock sub, which i wired in. now i just use the 6 speakers with no amp or subs

yes, that is similar to what im using. you will need a face plate trim, obviously, and the 2 harnesses is what i used just for the headunit. there are other harnesses, i know some have rca on them. if you plan on using the stock amp and stock sub, it looks like you have the right wires, im not exactly sure about which harness to use. make sure you solder in your harness.

Also do you have a diagram showing which color wire is what? Or at least know which one is the remote turn on wire that I will need for my new amp? Last edited by Pyraxx; 01-20-2013 at 11:06 PM. |

if you want to remove, not replace, the stock amp, you will need to do some rewiring, as the thicker gauge speaker wire for the speakers are coming out of the stock amp. remember, the stock amp powers all the speakers not just the sub, otherwise youll need to rewire your speakers.
if youre using the stock amp, with an aftermarket headunit, i think you have the wires already. there are a few different harnesses without rca, there is also an amp harness, which you may need if you dont have the correct headunit harness. to use the stock sub, with an aftermarket amp, you just wire it in to your new amp, not 1000w, it will blow the sub. there are no harnesses i know of to utilize the stock sub, but it is easily rewired. im getting confused here, do you want an amp to power a sub, or do you want an amp to power all the speakers like stock setup, or do you want 2 amps? the stock setup is already wired into 4 channels, including the sub. your remote turnon wire is blue, you can find the stock wire diagram in the fsm, just look for premium audio setup, youll see the sub in the wire diagram.

well, if you remove the stock amp, for your new headunit, you will need to rewire all of your speakers. however, if you plan on using an amp to power all the speakers, sub or not, all the wires going to the speakers are under the rear deck where the amp is. so if you were replacing your stock amp with an aftermarket, all the larger gauge speaker wires are already in the trunk, meaning they all run from the trunk to each corner speakers. in this case, you would just need to wire in your headunit to the amp, and splice the speaker wires into your new amp. it is your option to include the sub with this amp, as its already wired into both rear corners, or if your headunit supports, you can use a seperate amp to power the sub to control both amps, or rca them together.
not sure why you need an output after your sub.....? you only need the line output converter if your using rca from the headunit harness. if you use your aftermarket headunit, which should have rca on them, you just run the rca to the amp, and wire in the head unit, and youre good to go. it doesnt matter, you will need to add an amp turn-on wire if youre using an aftermarket amp. normally you can follow your rca with the remote turn on, these wires should be opposite side of car as your power wire. from my understanding, you want the stock amp to power all the speakers, which it already does. so you can just wire in your headunit harnesses. however, if you want to add another amp, you will need to wire in, or double, the amp turn-on for the aftermarket amp, and plug the rca for the aftermarket amp into the headunit itself, not the harness with rca. if you want it to power the stock sub, just cut the wires and wire them into the new amp if youre not adding a new sub. the sub is already wired into your preexisting setup, it is part left rear, and right rear corners. there is no premade harness for this, the sub only has 4 wires, follow the wires back to the stock amp, cut them, and wire them into your new amp. all the wires are different colors, you can find the color codes in the fsm.

no, im saying you will have to if youre going to ADD an amplifier with your stock amp. i mean doubling wires, putting a 3 way connection, so all your amps turn on with that one turnon wire. your headunit will need to turn both amps on and off, using that one blue wire.
