I was in Upstate NY (Catskills) end of October/beginning of November, right when Sandy landed, LOL. Wife is form NY, and we visit there often. Her mother is about 30-45 min from the PA border.

This was taken on my way home back to NOLA

*Apparently, there are 2 Lebanon in PA. I was not near what google maps finds as Lebanon, PA, but there is a Lebanon Township close to NY - that's where this was taken.

Since it was a warm winter day (in the 60's) and I wanted to try out the new camera, my wife and I made a trip to the zoo yesterday. These were shot hand-held with my D600 in shutter-priority mode and everything else still on full auto, my 80-200/f2.8 lens and post-processed through Lightroom.

This guy is a fishing cat. He lives in an indoor exhibit that typically has lighting levels set to simulate a moonlit environment, so its very dark. ISO 3200, 1/60s, f/2.8, no flash. I could never get a decent picture of him with my D90.

The current stars of our zoo, our two six month old Amur tiger cubs. They and their enclosure are muddy because it rained a bunch this week and the warm temperatures melted all the snow.

That first photo is kind of noisy (though a very well controlled noise). Just wondering, but is it because you cropped it?

No, all of the images were cropped. Its noisy because I set the ISO to 3200. Its actually quite amazing it came out that good at that ISO. Using a higher ISO introduces more noise and reduces dynamic range.

This was the best I ever managed with my D90. It was only with ISO @ 1250.
