if your tach was reading 0, while the motor was running, its your crank position sensor. just change both cam and crank sensors. when they are failing sometimes you get a good signal, sometimes you dont.

how did you make out with the rest? check your terminals and voltages? really a coilpack shouldnt blow up on you, when it does, its usually because of a bad ground. sometimes this could affect the ecu as well, and ground thru the ecu and render it useless. when did you rebuild the motor? did you follow the fsm? did you check for signs of a bad headgasket? did you try all 3 relearns in order?

EDIT: any ses codes? any loose/cracked vacuum hoses?

Did a full rebuild with cam/crank sensors about 3k ago. picked up an obd ii tester today and am getting the p0420 code for the cat efficiency below threshold which I'm going to bore out and do the spark plug fouler fix on as well as a p1111 which is a intake valve timing control circuit malfunction. Could this be the problem with why its not starting? i checked grounds and they are all good. i would hope that that the cam/crank sensors didn't fail that quick

p1111 - intake valve timing control solenoid valve circuit bank1

this would be a good reason your are having most of your problems. for starters, make sure you have checked your oil and coolant level. make sure your oil is clean for this part to work correctly, and your coolant is relatively good, hopefully both oil and coolant are circulating properly. if your oil is dirty, its possible the solenoid has gotten stuck or something. its difficult to say whether it is the solenoid, or the circuitry that has failed. so make sure everything is plugged in tight, no fraying/loose wires or something. there is a simple diagnostic in the fsm for this code. first check for battery voltage at the harness, then check for continuity, for wiring issues, otherwise replace the valve.

So this plug could potentially be what's causing the car not to run?
