Before getting pregnant, my wife was a big marathon runner. Never understood the obsession then, either.
Lol I don't like it at all. I would much rather go hike 10 miles in the wilderness somewhere than run 3 miles. The only reason I do any races is that it keeps me motivated and I actually run. Also when it costs $60 to do it then it keeps me double motivated since I spent the money on it. I would prefer like 5 mile and under races...I don't think my body is cut out for long distances. I have thrown around the idea of a full marathon, but that would just to do one so I could say I had and then never again.

The mini is usually kind of fun and festive with 35,000 people and they have bands playing...you run around the race track and stuff, but the heat was killer. I saw at least 10 people that were getting medical help (and they actually all looked like they were in decent shape). I need to lose 20-30 lbs if I were to do a marathon...I didn't really have much of a diet this year when training for it. I lost a little weight, but not much for running 10-25 miles a week.

I doubt if anyone who runs say 25 miles/day 5 days/week "enjoys" it most of the time. Although there are those Sat/Sun days where the weather is perfect and you are running at less than a training pace.

In the 30+ years that I ran there were years and years that I didn't even miss one day..sick or not. Obviously it was an obsession and a quest for eternal health. I am lucky I had only one injury and that was my achillis tendon...which I ran through and it didn't heal for way over a year. Big mistake.

Now I do the treadmill at 15 degrees at 2.4 mph for usually a half hour. I actually enjoy that though bc I usually watch "The Five" (Fox News) and especially enjoy Kimberly Guilfoyle (Perfect Ten) lol.

I like running, or rather the feeling after a run. I feel like crap if I take more than one day off. I guess it is my addiction. I ran 7.65 miles in 61 minutes during lunch today. Hit some very difficult trails and the weather was perfect.

I'm actually a pretty fit individual, starting about a year and a half ago. I take little pride or enjoyment in over doing it, though. Although, I think a lot of that has to do with being a new parent. Before my daughter was born, I'd walk my dog 3 miles in the morning and run 2-3 at night. I think was reaching to find something to fill my time, and getting fresh air fit the bill. Nowadays, I'd rather mow the yard 3 times a week than run, but I make myself run anyways.

Sounds like a nice Spring day.

I'll start running when there is a cop chasing me and i am not in my car. Walking is a different story; i LOVE long walks, though when it gets past 85F with over 85% humidity, it takes away from the enjoyment. Of course, i'm not above puffing a J during or before the walk. Exercise lets me stay awake and enjoying a buzz when i have had enough to make me sleepy; actually, a nice walk for a couple or three miles is one of my favorite stoner activities.

It would have been a nice day if you didn't have to run 13.1 miles

There were 240 people treated for heat related injuries...most in the history of the race.

My wife has been in Hilton Head all week with her girlfriends (or so she says). I must be getting really old because in the past I'd be down at the strip club but instead I've been watching Netflix all week. Plus doing a little target shooting!

I am surprised no one has posted about Carroll Shelby's passing. While I was born after his heyday, I still have an immense appreciation for his contributions to motorsport. Cars that we take for granted today exist in no small part to his innovations in the auto industry. I think all auto enthusiasts should pay him a few moments of respect on his dying day.

Another Colonoscopty out of the way. Some diviticulosis but no polyps. This one was bad bc I had to drink 1 gallon on the ugliest stuff on the planet last night. Not fun. Good for another 5 to 7 years.

With great extreme nauseating difficulty. I did it over 3 hours. Can't believe I didn't puke.
As Chuck pointed out - getting old is not for sissies.
