Front suspension question
Im currently trying to find out the problem with my front end. So ill first start by saying my brother slid the car into a curb damaging the drivers front. When I inspected it initially I noticed the transverse link was bent and i replaced the knuckle, inner and outer tie rods incase there was any other damage.
So my first problem is that I am currently having +0.75 degree on the driver side and -0.5degree on the passenger. I was curious as to what else could be damaged and/or throwing off the camber? What should i be looking for? The second is when im driving the car will hit a bump and the steering wheel will shake left and right. When I have the car parked and rapidly shake the steering left and right just a bit i hear a "tuck tuck" sound coming from the steering joint. What could be the cause of this problem? Is there a way to tighten or adjust the steering rack? And the third problem is when im driving i hear a rotational "whir whir" sound when driving the car faster than about 15km/h, below that the sound isnt there. But when i jack up the car and spin the wheel I dont hear the sound. Any ideas what this problem could be? Sorry about the long read but these problems have been bothering me for the past 2.5 weeks since it slid into the curb. Any help would be appreciated, thank you. |

1-which measurements are off? the toe, camber, caster even? there are adjustments everywhere, im assuming you have more stuff bent somewhere.
2-this would need inspection, could be a few things, this could explain your first problem if your measurements are off. 3-the whir whir sound is most likely a scalloped tire or uneven tread, maybe a flat spot on the tire tread? just guessing given the accident described.

1. My camber is the only one that isn't in spec. Driver side is +0.6 and the passenger side is a -0.5. I have a feeling it's my strut that may be bent but other than the strut and the things ive already replaced is there anything else to look for?
2. I think I may have to take it in to get looked at. 3. The tires I have on are new and new rims since the damage. Do I don't think it could be a tire unless the tire is defective? |
