whoa!! those clogged intakes are disgusting!!

so, the block strength is pretty much the biggest concern that i have with trying to reach the 10k. i dont even know if the rest of the internals will spin that fast, but seeing as how i will not be boosted if i do this, maybe it'll hold I was thinking if it were even possible, I would have to have the intake and ports machined out for more flow, and higher flow injectors. the tune would be a tough deal as well. Looking through the block schematics, i've been trying to think of ways to block a couple coolant passages and reroute them, making the block that much more solid... its a big deal, once i finally get the motor itself to pull that off, then, the question is- will the tranny hold that? lol!

Hi again all. A few updates you may be interested in

Finally fitted the EGR blanks. Big improvement to throttle response and MPG. I think there's a touch more torque on partial throttle which is when the EGR valve would be open before. Doing just over 55mpg on average on the motorways now compared to 53 before, so very happy about that. I've got an EGT gauge installed and it doesnt seem to have affected temps at all. Very low state of tune though the standard map so that's to be expected.

Hel braided brake hoses and DOT 5.1 fluid all round now. I've put the standard calipers back on until I can sort out some re-drilled maxima 26mm thick discs as the 22mm standard I was using just didnt sit right with me. Getting some Ferrodo pads next.

Third thing is I've sold on Rota Grids and got a set of pretty rare Nissan Enkei 16" wheels. 7J too which is good for OEM. They are nearly as light as the Rotas were too. I wanted to go for a less aggressive look and OEM+.

They grow on ya but I'm certainly liking how the car's turned out. I just need to lower the rear a touch as I previously had 205/55 on the rears but now 205/50 all round.

EGR blanks installed:

This was the EGR tube that was essentially an extension of the exhaust manifold, so by removing it I've reduced the volume of the manifold by a third so it pressurises quicker this spools the turbo quicker. Hence the better throttle response, also helped by 100% clean air into the intake now.

I really like those rims, they sit well on your car too. I had no idea nissan used Enkei as an OEM rim ever, but then again, I don't know what they do for most car out of the country. Lol.

Thanks dude. Yeah Nissan did it a lot for the older range in Japan. The Autech N15 GTi and the VZR N1 sometimes came with lightweight Enkei 15" wheels.

I assume the check engine light came on with the egr removed.... How did you go about getting rid of the light or did you just leave it?

Great build by the way, I would give up both my SR20 Sentra's and maybe half of a left nut for one of these cars

So sad that this is not available here in the states. I might actually consider buying another Nissan if they did. 55mpg? Suck it Prius!

Thanks

The check light did come on which was partially expected after reading the FSM, although it didnt come on until after a good many miles. When the car is remapped it can be taken out.
