I have this code on my car right now. Its something to do with emissions (damn tree huggers!!)Nissan diagnosed it to be an exhaust gas recirculator......consisting of some canister and a valve, they said its $140 for the canister and $85 for the valve.

So ya.... they are stickin me for about $300 parts and labor. But its the first prob. ive had since i got the car in 2000.

P0031 Heated oxygen sensor 1 heater control circuit low

Possible cause
1. Harness or connectors (The heated oxygen sensor 1 heater circuit is open or shorted.)

2. Heater oxygen sensor 1 heater (bad sensor).

There is the info fromthe FSM. If you search "0031" there are 45 threads with that code. If you need more help you might start a new thread. Good luck

Is anyone familiar with this procedure.

About this time last year, my 2001 Nissan Sentra Check Engine Soon light came on.

I was leaving town and needed my car.

I got lucky and found a nebulous (not part of any forum) procedure for checking the OBD codes and then clearing the errors to make the light go out, even if only long enough to pass my Smog Inspection and make my trip. Of course, after a day or so the CES light came back on. Then I came back in town and got my car serviced.

Any way, the procedure called for stepping on the gas pedal a cetain number of times, in certain combinations to check the code (CES light blinks in a pattern depending on Code #), and then clear the error.

The fuel vapor canistor, vacuum sensor, and valve are all very easy to replace. On the driver's side, behind the rear wheel and in between the bumper cover and frame lies the parts. Remove the protective cover from underneath the bumper cover. The long black box with a hose going toward the rear bumper is the vapor canister. It it held by two bolts towards the front of the car, and two push in fasteners at the rear. One sensor is plugged in, and on line running from the fuel tank connects with a clamp. The Hitachi boost sensor is held by two 10mm bolts and a plug connector. The valve is the green solenoid and I forget how it comes off but it didn't take long.

I got all the parts from a pull-it-yourself junkyard, cost $50 after bagaining, because there's no guarantee on electronic parts.

In case you're wondering, my wife backed over the tree stump while moving my car out of the way. Thanks baby!

hi im new here, last week my 03 2.5 le 25,000 miles went in for the (r0606) recall, where the computer gets reprogrammed. two days after i got it back my ses light comes on, at a local parts house they show codes p0335 & p0725. now p0335 is the crank sensor, the other code is for the engine speed input does anybody out there know where that is on the engine, that is the speed sensor. info will be helpful, at the stealership they tell me that the computer was clear of codes after the racall procedure. i may have to take the car else where, since all this came after they got their grubby hands on it.

Call the dealer and ask if your car falls under the crank position sensor recall.

If it isn't, tell them it should still be covered under the 5yr/60k powertrain warranty. I think your bumper2bumper warranty expired since it's been more than 3 years.

Dude..you don't need the canister, but you do need the valve. I'll tell you why they say "you need a canister". It's because of a design flaw. The valve (which is made of plastic), is attached to the canister(also made of plastic) by two screws. What happens is the two screws corrode very badly into the canister. When someone attempts to remove the screws, the break. Although the canister is still good and works fine, they say you need a canister so that they don't have to extract the cheap metal screws, that broke off inside the canister. And thats why they try to milk you for the canister with the valve. It's a common symptom with Japanese cars and trucks. The metal and steel used by these car manufacturers are cheap grade which saves them money. Almost every bolt or screw thats rusty is garenteed to break.

so i finally got my OBD Scanner and just after fixing a P1444 a P1706 came up and after reading a bunch of posts foung out its related to an auto transmission issue:park neutral position switch
It is used to determine which gear you are in and also it acts as a start inhibit switch so you car will only start in park or neutral, but i didn't find out what it means for manual transmissions or is it something else perhaps
anybody else know?

clear it your self

1) Sit in the driver's seat.
2) Turn the ignition key to the ON position and wait three seconds. (Do not start the car.)
3) Fully depress and release the accelerator pedal five times in less than five seconds.
4) Wait exactly seven seconds. Fully depress the accelerator pedal for ten seconds until the MIL (SES) light flashes.
5) when you see the light flashing hold the gas pedal for 15 secs thenn release it.
6) Take the key out the car then put it back in and start your car. The light should be gone if done right.

it will clear it but if you don't seal up the gas tank (3 - 4 clicks) it won't go away but it will in time, don't fret mine did.

There are several vac lines, look for one that is disconnected or split; there is also a vent valve (removable) that sometimes sticks, if it has you need a new valve....................

Hi you all. I have been having one issue after another. I hope someone here can help save me from spending another wade of cash troubleshooting the prob. I have an 03 sentra gxe. I put an after market cold air intake and a new muffler. Not long after that the check engine light came on. Then a few weeks later my instrament cluster started acting crazy. It will go out then of I hit the dash it will come back on, as if it has a short. So then the car started acting really crazy and with no instraments I took it to the mech. He said it was overheating and fixed that. I still had issues with the instrament panel so I bought a new one, installed it and it seems to be doing fine so far. But the check engine light is still on and it did not pass inspection due to 2 codes. 1). P0463: Fuel Level Sensor Circuit High and 2). P0462: Fuel Level Sensor Circuit Low. Any ideas what this might mean exactly? I relly do not want to go drop another couple of hundred just to find out it is a simple fix.

Hello Sir,

I have P0140 and P0420 code on my 2001 Nissan Sentra. I did replace CAT and oxygen sensor B1 S2 ( parts from dealer) but now I still have P0140 code. I did replace O2 sensor tiwce but can't get rid of the P0140. From the sanner reading si still too high, steady 1.55 V. I ohm the sensor and it looks fine (2.3 to 4.3Ohm). You did mention that taken the sim off. Could you please tell me wat sim is that one? anything that I should do to turn off P0140. Is that sometime wrong with the ECM? Thanks.

The car runs and idles fine - no shaking, roughness or anything abnormal at all that I noticed and I'm quite tuned-in to noticing stuff being a car guy. I did about 125 miles yesterday and the fuel economy seems to be about normal.

I went to Autozone and had them pull the code(s). The previous owner, who is a friend, takes the bus to work so the car had been driven 'on a very limited basis' for the past year or so. Based on that the guy at Autozone thought it may have been fuel related and suggested running a tank or two of system cleaner through before downloading the code(s) again to see if anything else shows up.

Thoughts, anyone?

^^^Erm....P0430 is for camshaft position sensor, and the only way to solve it is to replace said sensor. The one you can solve with that course of action is P0420 (cat efficiency below threshold).....

P 1706, bad neutral switch, in a manual trans? I cleared the code and it was fine for about 150 miles then came right back on. I'm thinking its not actually the switch, would that be the clutch switch or do manual trans still have that switch?

Also, I'm thinking the wires could be messed up. PM me please with help, anything is much appreciated.

i am popping 3 codes in my car p108, p500 and p460. I took it to autozone and they told me the p108 for my car was a faulty thermostat but the codes on the first page show something different. I changed my thermostats already and am going to be changing the Voltage speed sensor (vss) soon as i am getting no response from the spedometer. anyone have any thoughts on why they would tell me its my thermostats and did i waste my time changing them?

threw a P0340, camshaft position sensor. anyohne ever had an issue with this? my car cranks, but wont start

My car both have the P0340 and P0335, had to replace both sensors (camshaft position and crankshaft position sensors). Engine now runs fine.

and so.. the free app "Torque" and a 2$ obd2/bluetooth transmitter will let you monitor your car effortlessly without buying gauges and going to autozone everytime you get a code.
