Okay so I want to put satellite radio in my car BAD :) So here is my problem, should i upgrade my HU and go that route or should i just buy a tuner. The problem i have is that i have read with the AF package my sub will sound like sh#t if i change the HU, unless i rewire it, and im not into cutting those wires. What do you think my best bet would be for right now. I plan on upgrading the whole system eventually but i dont have all of the cash right now. Just some ideas and suggestions that you all might have. Thanks guys and gals.

if you car is an 04 see if you have a sticker in your driver side doorjamb that says it is pre-wired for satellite. if that is the case i would go that route, it does cost $350 for the unit though. cause if you change you HU it would only be a sat ready HU. meaning that you would still need a receiver and the antenna, which would be like $300 all together. since you don't have a lot of cash you could go get a XM roady for like $120 from somewhere, plug that into the aux input or use an FM modulator. hope this helps you.

Yea i heard about that, but I have an '03. I have decided that I am either going with the kenwood unit, or the JVC or the audiovox. I just cant decide which. I like the red on JVC because it matches our gauges pretty well, but the darn thing is HUGE. However with the kenwood I would have to buy the seperate FM modulator. Any ideas where I coule hide the stuff if i got the JVC or the Audiovox?? I was thinking maybe the center console?? Throw some ideas my way guys.

Sorry for the double post and I'm sure this is a stupid question but is there an aux input on the '03 stock rockford decks??

i don't know if the RF head has aux in or not. that would be something to check into. out of the choices you have decided on i would go with ether the kenwood or the jvc. which ever one you like better. ive never been a fan of audiovox and i would stay away from them. you could try to plave it in the center console depending on size. but under a front seat might be you better bet.

at least someone reads my lame posts, thanks monk for the feedback. I think the JVC is the way to go if I can get it to fit in the center console and still close it. I dont want to put in under a seat because I wont be able to change it very easily. Well thanks for the info anyway, and if anyone out there knows for sure if the stock HU has an aux input PLEASE let me know.

The RF unit has an AUX in, ever notice it says AUX when you play a CD in your changer?

*edit* I cannot promise what type of AUX port it is (RCA or hard-wire) simply because the units were specifically built to talk to eachother.

very good point aem, i guess i could just pull it out and look, huh. Also is there any way to still use the in dash 6 cd changer with an aftermarket HU?

Good question, once you see what type of connecton it uses, you can answer that yourself. I would assume so, simply because it uses an AUX connection, it would have been silly for Nissan to design a proprietary connection type just for the Spec V models with an RF package.
