i want to get the 6500 but it's 500 canadian
just give me your thoughts about it and any experience you've got.
I'm not interested in clarion or alpine just pioneer.
2001 SE #2 02-06-2004, 06:23 PM looks like a decent little headunit, just don't expect it to have too many features
CustomSentra1 02-06-2004, 06:31 PM ^^^ What he said.
sentrabeast 02-06-2004, 07:20 PM Same here, although if you look at the website, you will notice the advertise above it for the more expensive version of the HU, weird. I guess its good, i personally like panasonic. But, why dont you get the one that has all the swimming dolphins on it, those are the shizznite!!!!!
Yellow-Nismo-V 02-06-2004, 07:33 PM I have the pioneer 7500 it is very nice i reccomend it highly and it is very user friendly and this is comming from some1 that does not get a long with audio.

you do realize there's a lot more to Pioneer than the graphics right?
based on your posts, you seem to think they're Sony with an organic EL display
specracer2 02-07-2004, 12:44 AM hey dude i have that head unit in my truck, its is good but my alpine is far better for about the same price, pioneer does make great decks though
seven6ty 02-07-2004, 01:08 AM Seems decent. I'd go with a different brand myself, but that's just me.
I'm just wondering why it has "EEQ™, SFEQ, our new EQ-EX". Are those three different types of controls for the EQ or what? Seems kind of redundant.
RedAlertLB 02-08-2004, 09:09 AM I have the same head unit only with MP3 and forthe price its worth it considering that it has low and high pass crossovers. compaired to all the other mp3 players in this price range and there features.
MoltenBurn 02-08-2004, 02:44 PM spend a little more and get one of pioneers DVD/cd/mp3/ f-in everyhting players. That way you can add a screen in the future
MoltenBurn 02-08-2004, 02:44 PM got mine for like $450

Well both companies tend to hover around 85-90 ish S/N ratio in their middle of the road decks. Both are cheaply made, I dunno Pioneer does seem like a prettier Sony to me. Don't get me wrong on the higher end of either of those brands they are quite nice. But again not my cup of tea. For the same price or maybe for a little more coin you could have a alpine or a clarion. Granated neither of my suggestions would have "the dolphins" and all.

S/N ratio is just an outlet for manufacturers to make themselves look better, much like amplifers' "max" power rating. My guess is Pioneer and Sony both test this completely differently, with Pioneer's results being much truer to the real numbers. Listen to a Pioneer and then listen to a Sony, you can distinctly hear a difference, the Sony is practically the bottom of the line. Pioneer is not cheaply made either, every one of their products doesn't fall apart after 5 months like most Sony headunits do. Please never refer to Pioneer and Sony in the same sentence again, it's degrading to the entire audio community.
I'm also not a Pioneer freak like you're probably thinking right now. In fact I'll probably go with an Alpine for my next unit because I like the time correction features they have. I just feel obligated to defend a quality product when people group it with **** just because it has decent graphics.

I was being sarcastic again, most of my posts are. Are you cyber stalking me SE????? Freaky, like Friday the 13th, except the computer kills you. No I actually like pioneers, I just finished installing my friends today and it was pretty decent.
ZSentraZ 02-08-2004, 04:58 PM I have that head unit and for a person like me who isnt very good with audio it works out nicely. Its, easy to use, nice sound, good look and very nice
