Since I had a few PMs asking for the dimensions of my amp rack I'll post them here. I got the design from Blackout03 and slightly modified it to my liking. Since I'm an AutoCAD nerd I drew up both versions hope blackout wont mind...

I used ½" MDF or birch will work also. Didnt mount it yet but I'm planning on using "L" brackets.

Anyone else have an amp rack they'd like to add to the database?

Great rack designs, dont loose too much space either with these. Trying to make your rack (seems about same but less cuts). I cant figure out the smaller dimensions, like the straight cut from the top down to the 135 angle, could you give me that measurement? Sorry but my geometry skills all got smoked out years ago:)

Was that the best you could do, Greg? I was hoping you would finish it in flash animation so I could see the whole thing in 3D....weak...j/k :p Really - nice job.

I'd have to see those installed, but mine is just a piece of 1/2" MDF, measures 31"W x 17"H, notched for the seat bracket, and simply sits behind the seat. No angles, no extra cuts.

What type of carpet did you use on your amp rack? And where did you buy it from? Thanks man.

That pic is old by the way, but the new rack looks exactly the same, except for the fact that the piece of sh-t USX-4085 is replaced by a JL 300/4 :D

I went to a local stereo shop, and bought it. Don't know the brand. I think it's called "off the roll on the side of the stereo shop" brand. :)

Yeah, forget about the regular retailers, find yourself a local shop for the little stuff like carpet and connectors. Buy everything else online. You'll save a fortune. Most of the shops around me are an absolute ripoff. I jusr go when I need something quick to finish up an install.

now that the amp racks out of the way, i want my subs hidden. Any chance I could get dimensions of a sub rack. Probly have to be double layered but...it's do-able.

How much space is there between the board and the back of the seats? Thanks

Just a guess but I'd say 4-6"

Where exactly do you plan on hiding your subs? removing the spare tire?

That's what'll look like once you carpet it.
I think mine looks great!

I used MDF board 1/2" Thick.

11 3/8" Tall by 35" Wide

Around 2" from back seats

are there any concerns when drilling into the floor?

I won’t do it. Whenever you drill into the body of the car that is exposed to elements, you can introduce rust into the area that can cause a big problem later. You can easily correct this problem by painting or undercoating the part that is exposed, but I haven’t found it truly necessary to drill into the bottom portion of the trunk. I secured my amp rack by drilling into the rear seat supports.

Did you notice an extreme loss in bass once you installed this?
Sealing off the only place the sound has to travel to the cabin with 1/2 inch MDF would trap everything in your trunk.
