Tattude 02-05-2004, 12:20 PM I have two 12's with mono amps for each and one 500x4 Orion Extreme amp
Question is with this amp what would be a good speaker combo for the front and rear?
I was looking at Infinity Kappa 63.5 for the Rear???
Maybe some component Kappa's for the front???
GregFarz78 02-05-2004, 12:56 PM 500x4 holy sheet thats way too much power for front or rear speakers, I'm assuming you meant 50x4?
i have a 500x4 for my mids/highs.
*about 65rms
i also have 63.5's in the rear and kappa perfects in the front.
i like it alot. i'm really impressed with the 3 ways, they sound really clear, imo.
the kappa perfects are nice, but not what i expected.
Tattude 02-05-2004, 01:05 PM My bad 50rms X 4
GregFarz78 02-05-2004, 02:22 PM I've used the kappas components they sound pretty good for the price, the prefects arent worth the money IMO. I was running my kappas 50w each they could take a tad more power though but 50w will be fine.
Tattude 02-05-2004, 02:23 PM Thanks
evangelos K 02-05-2004, 02:50 PM I have the 63.5 for sale, $80 shipped.
Take a look in the classifieds if interested.
Tattude 02-05-2004, 03:18 PM i found them in a google search for 100.95 shipped to my door...NEW
SunburstSpec-v 02-05-2004, 04:50 PM 50x4 to the Kappas are perfect. I have the Kappa coaxs in the rear and components in the front. 50x4 makes them scream.
2001 SE #2 02-05-2004, 05:17 PM the kappas blow, seriously look elsewhere
they're DEFINATELY not worth the money. Take MB Quart harshness, multiply it by 10, drop off all response below 150Hz, and you have the kappas in a nutshell.

really?
the 63.5i seem to like the the power i have, but the kappa components sound like they want more. the kappa's aren't as clear as i thought they would be.

For $100 I really dont think this point is valid. At least give a suggestion for something else in that price range why do people come on here and say oh that speaker sucks, then dont even offer an argument to whats better?
2001 SE #2 02-05-2004, 05:57 PM You won't find the kappa components for $100 unless you get them used, even then I don't think they're worth it. You must be talking about the kappa coaxs. Those are even worse really, they play some down low (read: under 100hz) but as soon as you start turning it up the motor loses control of the cone and it just starts sounding floppy and distorted. It took 30 unclipped watts on a 100hz sine wave for this to happen, it was really pathetic as I was sitting there watching them do it. I don't recommend running rears at all, and I've never researched what some good choices would be, so I can't give any recommendations. If you do decide on the kappa coaxs, just don't bother sending them much power.
As for the components....well they're very clear and can get very loud. Those are the only positive things I can say about them, I honestly liked the stock speakers better because they actually played below 150Hz. Seriously, you people probably think I'm joking, I would sit there in the EQ on the headunit and keep turning the bass up and up and up and not hear a single difference in the sound until the speaker started sounding floppy and crappy like the coaxs did on a whopping 30 watts.
As for suggestions on other speakers to check out instead?

you mean the components or coaxs
I assume the coax since they were in the rear deck, but you never know

very clear for the music i listen to....... trance.. kpop
sentrabeast 02-06-2004, 03:18 PM So if say you didnt have a price break, and could afford top quality door spks, what would you recommend for front and rear, or would you even recommend rear at all?
2001 SE #2 02-06-2004, 04:23 PM I wouldn't do rears at all, and for fronts I would probably just get a set of Utopias, Seas' component set, or maybe some Rainbows
Then again out of these, the Utopias are the cheapest at $500, the Seas are $830, and the Rainbows are god knows how much.
Tattude 02-09-2004, 11:52 AM Same question but 200 dollars or less? I have a few places on line where I can get any stereo stuff for super cheap.
