You have serious issues. So far you've dropped Brax, McIntosh, & Tru, all to go back to some cracker *** JBL amps. Don't fix something that isn't broken... now you're credit cards are whack, focus on fixing that, not your system you are happy with.

Only have one thing to say......

You didn't have anything great to say about JL amps....well...that 300/4 is the picture of precision. I couldn't be happier. I can't believe what I was missing with that USX-4085.

Good luck anyway man. LOL.

Coming from someone who bought Tru, Brax, and McIntosh and ran on and on about it on forums... I'm not so sure you're the one to come down on anyone for buying JL for name sake. Get a grip.

I don’t know what you’re up to but I know it has something to do with that JBL amp you've had laying in the shadows for several months. You might as well come clean, I knew it was only a matter of time. Hooking it to subs perhaps?

JBL vs TRU has very obvious differences. I prefer JBLs sound, and im about to discuss why.

The first test I used was the live version of hotel california. Its on my IASCA reference CD I got from dingaling. The opening guitar solo is the first thing you test on. The guitar plucks were not as crisp and powerful as the TRU amp. The TRU made them sound more live, true to life. Thats one thing TRU offers over all the other amps I've heard.

The JBL 150x2 has some strengths, given what I prefer in car audio. The music is richer, and thicker. The bass is lower and thicker. The tweets are richer and more robust. This may be artificial additons to the music, but I sure prefer it, to thin precise music. The JBL is warmer sound. The TRU is very strict and precise, probably doing what an amp really should do. But to me, its a bit more boring. The piano isnt quite as lifelike with the JBL amp. The notes arent as pure.

The problem with the JBL is its size. I would gladly build a system comprised of all these new JBL amps, but theyre way too big. I only fit one amp on my rack, and I'd need 3. That kinda sucks. I am still after a "simple" setup if possible. But I do want rear speakers run off amp power too.

Overall, I prefer the JBLs warm sound. Nice and full, and rich. The front components all alone, sound a lot nicer off my JBL than they did on my TRU.

I should start a car audio fanatic rehab facility. I'd be rich off one customer.

sounds like you need to get an EQ in your system to make it sound like you want?

Thanks bro, I appreciate that. I do all this swapping for myself as much as just telling people about my opinions.

sounds like you need to get an EQ in your system to make it sound like you want?

Well... ya.. everyones been telling me to get an EQ forever.. I have a 5 band one i cant even adjust right tho.. why do i want a much more complicated one.. my backround scheme is always "keep it simple". I dont want extra components.

To top it all off

I played this whole TRU sale out in my mind. I pretended it was sold. I felt the tru sadness in my gut just imaging it. I know I will never have another amp of this quality, if i start blowing money on a bunch of cheaper amps again. I also know I would never have another chance to have a TRU, since I traded two sets of Dynaudio speakers for this one. I listened to my entire IASCA CD on the way home, each song that stands out on that CD. I still sensed the smoother, less crisp sound the JBL offers. And it started to bother me... I started to miss the excitement that TRU brings to the table. Things like instruments that actually sound real. A sense of artifical-ness? came over me. I became disenchanted with this smoothed over sound i was so happy about earlier. It was a lot easier on the ears, yet that was because it was lacking many details. I am glad I didnt sell my TRU yet. I am putting it back in to compare tonight. The best my system has ever ever been is my TRU and dual 10W3 subs.. Whether I feel like it right this moment or not.. I had some magical times with that combo, and had real excitement in my heart as I heard music like I hadn't ever before. I dont have anythign bad to say about the JBL amp. In my opinion, it's better than any Alpine or PPI I've had for quality sound. (No offense to any other owners) It was so cheap on ebay, I cant reall ysell it and make anything, but I'd consider it. Unfortunately, I gave the 12W3v2s a fair enough chance, many days and many hours. They're just not gonna work out. I have no desire to get a new box, since my 10's sound killer. I have to keep remembering that. And I shouldnt have ever touched my subs in the first place. I may have a totally different opinion tomorrow.. But this is Plac's mind tonight.

...what's all this talk of an IASCA CD??? If I shot you over a couple bucks via pay pal, would you burn me a copy?? That's something I could really use to make head to head comparisons of stuff a little more clear. Let me know.....

I liked your review either way, very insightful and helpful. If it's that close, it makes my next amp decision a very easy one. If you're thinking of selling it (JBL), let me know ;) I'll buy it.

oh the IASCA is just a small folder... it just has a lot of reference music in other folders also..

a mega bass tester folder.. female vocals, male vocals, trance, instrumentals.. classicals.. i'll see what i can do. i think some of my CD is corrupted..

Ya know placenta, you shouldn't be upset that you sometimes like the JBL better than the Tru, or that you really liked having the Tru for a while. What you should do is stop saying "I like this better than that" and say "I want to listen to this setup today."

You should consider your stereo setups more like girls consider shoes. Different shoes for different occasions.

Use the JBL's when your cruising. Use the Tru when you're showing off.

I read something you wrote a while back though that makes me believe its all in your head, I can't take you 100% seriously anymore. Maybe 65%.... I'm sure there's differences in the sound between the two amp makes, but I think its mostly just a "new" sound when you change the amps out.

I change my shirt every day, there's no reason you shouldn't change your amps every two weeks.

I hope that test CD is not converted from and MP3 file. That would defeat the whole purpose.
I have the entire Autosound 2000 set up disk collection. Disks 101-105. They are very helpful.
Someone stole (or I lost) my old IASCA CD's
