A week later, I blew it - my fault. Talked to the guy, he had me send it back. Mind you, that was in August (I have the damn UPS receipt). I got it back TODAY (READ: January) with a note that said : Unit unable to be repaired. Aight, I can deal. I then look at the amp...

The amp I got back is missing the bottom plate, looks like it's been to hell and back, and is missing several screws, parts, plastic pieces, etc.

WHAT THE{EDIT}?!?!?! I just got ripped a new {EDIT}! What can I do? Private sale, but he had me send the product to his COMPANY (USA AMPS) to get it repaired.

HELP!

If you cant see the frayed connection at the bottom of the picture you may want to look again. There have been countless threads of people buys off of ebay thinking they are getting something from the company when it is just some other guy ripping them off, my adivce; just stick with the basics.

Ughh... yea, but there have also been countless threads of people being very happy with their purchases from Ebay. I had a very good experience with ebay buying my XR650CSi's, evangelos purchased speakers from ebay and even had the ebay seller warranty them when one blew, plac has bought on ebay several times... etc. A friend of mine here at work buys from ebay all the time, she hasn't had an issue yet, even when a picture depicted a slightly different color than the product was she was given a nice deduction because she wasn't completely happy.

If you look at the score it should give some idea, jeezh, only 10 sales since 2000 and out of those measley 10 sales he couldn't get 100% feedback? Sometimes it seems people don't remember that if it seems like to good of a deal it probably is.

I never said that you couldnt do it. He can if he wants to, all I am saying is that I know people that have been ripped off there before. You always, and i mean ALWAYS take some kind of risk when you order from ebay. Like it was even admitted, a good portion of the time the amps/speakers are not in good shape and have to be replaced. So then it becomes even more of a hassle. Personally, I wouldnt mind paying maybe an extra $20 as long as I dont get that pain in my butt.

i wouldnt buy from anyone personal very much anymore.

i will say this much...with regards to scams, a big trend has been for someone to subvert a highly-rated person's account and go from there. so even buying from storefronts isn't always safe as well ;)

Never had a single problem w/ e-bay, and as DevlynSyde said, I had a speaker replaced (type-X) w/ free shipping, although it was my fault (speaker got wet). I have spent ~$7000 on e-bay, just do your "research" before you buy.

I know I will never use the warranty unless I bought the product localy (best buy, etc) and only throuhg the store I bought it for a direct exchange; dont feel like contacting the manufactirer. Even when buying from certified but online retailers, it is a great hassle (to me) to send the item back, pay shipping both ways etc... Hell, 9 times out of ten, even when I buy localy, I throw the registration card away, thats me.

just so you know...legally, in most states, the registration is implied and the card is not required to be sent in. warranty starts the day you buy it ;)

I just bought an amp on ebay that was DOA:(
Fortunately it was a refurb direct from the manufacturer.
Unfortunately I have to pay to ship a monster Xtant 603x back.
It is around $40 for 2 day or $30 for 7day. Bah...

I've been going through discount audio under yahoo shopping, andthey were really good as far as i know... my problem now is that the system is taking longer than i thought to get all the pieces due to funds and nothing scares me more than powering on an amp that doesnt work or having problems with my speakers.... my equipment was delivered 2 weeks before christmas
